Tom Sturgis Pretzel - Reading, PA

In 1861 Julius Sturgis founded the first American commercial pretzel bakery. The hard pretzels were developed by Julius. Grandson of Julius, Marriott D. “Tom” Sturgis spent years learning the pretzel baking business from his family. Marriott passed pretzel making onto his son Tom and Tom’s son Bruce.
