The Fox and The Grapes Bed & Breakfast - Lodi, NY
Updated: Aug 18, 2022
The Fox and The Grapes Bed and Breakfast is on 2.7 acres in Lodi, NY. The location is central to many of the wineries along Seneca Lake. The Bed & Breakfast has five (5) guest rooms with private en suite baths. Each room is decorated in a Victorian decor.
The original home was built in 1885 by the Caywood Family. It was later purchased by the Porter Family who sold it in 2004. In 2005, it became The Fox and The Grapes. Although the home has many qualities of an 1885 Victorian farm house, it also provides many of the modern day amenities required by most travelers. The service is friendly and the environment is cozy.
We visited The Fox and The Grapes during a bad snow storm. We were traveling from Pennsylvania, and we were not sure if we would even make it. Luckily we had the Subaru which got us to the bed and breakfast safely.
The first night of our stay we had the entire house to ourselves or so we thought. During the night we heard a lot of activity on the third floor. One of us experienced the bedspread being tugged while laying in bed and we also heard many strange sounds in our room throughout the night.
In the morning we awoke to an amazing homecooked breakfast that was delicious. We spoke to the owner and asked her if there were any guests on the third floor and informed her of the noises we heard.
Not surprised by our statement, she smiled and informed us that we were the only visitors at the B&B last night. We were both in disbelief. She continued to tell us that there have been many sightings of a little girl in a plaid dress and she has been heard playing on the third floor which is only used for storage.
So do we recommend the Fox and The Grapes? Absolutely, but be reminded that you may have to share the house with the little girl in the plaid dress.
