Space Needle - Seattle, Washington
The Space Needle was built for the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle, Washington. The theme was “The Age of Space”. It is also called the “The 400 Day Wonder” since it was built in 400 days. The grand opening was on April 21, 1962.
The Space Needle stands 605 feet tall, can withstand 200 mph winds and up to a 9.1 magnitude earthquake. The saucer at the top gives 360-degree views of downtown Seattle. There is also a glass floor that revolves and a restaurant, but it was closed during our visit.
