Richman’s Ice Cream - Woodstown, New Jersey
Updated: Jun 6, 2022
William “Billy” Richman began Richman’s Dairy Company in 1894 in his general store with a hand-cranked freezer. The diary farms nearby provided the milk for the ice cream.
As the business grew Richman’s Ice Cream turned into a huge manufacturing complex. The complex was completed in 1947 after a shortage of construction materials due to WWII.
In 1988 the Waddington’s purchased the company from the Richman family. At this time the plant was producing 1.4 million gallons and 54 flavors a year and had 5 restaurants.
In 1994 the plant closed but the restaurant remained open.
The restaurant closed in 2010 and all contents were sold. The building, which sits on 19.5 acres, is up for sale.
