Updated: Aug 18, 2022
The Red Run Road truss bridge over Loyalsock creek in rural Sullivan County, PA was built in 1897 by Horseheads Bridge Company. The company liked to use twisted bar for its knee braces on the portal bracing and sway bracing. This is a simple design that gives the bridge an attractive and unique appearance that immediately identifies the bridge as a product of its builder.
In 1983 the bridge was rehabilitated. It became supported on a concrete and stone or stone veneer substructure. The bridge's main span length is 120 Feet (36.6 Meters) and a roadway width of 14.8 Feet (4.51 Meters).
