Dushore Founders Day Outhouse Races - Sullivan County, PA
Updated: Sep 7, 2022
When my dad’s family had a cabin in Sullivan County. PA, we always attended the biggest celebration in Dushore, Founders Day. Founders Day is always held the second Saturday in August.
Dushore, Pennsylvania was founded in 1859 by Aristide Albert DuPetit-Thouars who was imprisoned for killing 33 deer with his bare hands even though it was never proven.
The main attraction of the day is the outhouse races. Each outhouse consists of 4 pushers and one driver and they race each other to the finish line. Some of the teams are very creative when decorating their outhouse. There are also lots of food vendors, kids games, petting zoo, motorcycle run, keg roll and so much more.
There are also decorate toilet seats for sale.
