The Oscar Mayer Company began to promote their hot dogs in 1936 in Chicago, IL with their very first Wienermobile which was created by Oscar Mayer’s nephew, Carl G. Mayer.
Wienermobile drivers are known as Hotdoggers and are often college seniors. During their employment, which lasts for one year, the Hotdogger drives around in the Wienermobile and promotes Oscar Mayer. Often they hand out whistles or some sort of swag.
Currently there are only 6 Wienermobiles in commission. This Wienermobile was at the Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI.
