Nisky Hill Cemetery - Bethlehem, PA
Updated: Nov 2, 2021
Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem, PA, was founded about 1864 as a Moravian burial ground.
Walking around the cemetery we always wonder about the lives of those buried there. Our wish is that every tombstone had information posted about the lives of each person buried there.
We found a Civil War cannon; a tombstone with the faces of the couple buried there; a 16-foot granite monument that Thomas Wetterau erected for his wife Emma in 1917; Jessie Woodrow Sayre, daughter of President Woodrow Wilson; H.D., Hilda Doolittle, who wrote poetry and novels including The Gift; Joseph Vance who served as a Sergeant of the U.S. 6th Infantry Regiment, Company B for the “colored” troops during the Civil War; William Radford Coyle, U.S. Congressman; and so many more Civil War soldiers.
We definitely will do some more research and will be back.
