Myakka River State Park - Sarasota, Florida

Myakka River State Park, one of the first state parks in Florida, was opened in 1942. Many of the original buildings in the park are in use today. The Myakka River was designated a Florida Wild and Scenic River by the State legislature in 1985.

The Myakka River flows through a vast area of unspoiled hammocks, wetlands, prairies, and pinelands that make up Myakka River State Park.

There are many popular water activities, such as: boating, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Hikers and bicyclists are often seen exploring miles of trails and backroads.

Located at: 13208 State Road 72, Sarasota FL 34241
