Flower Pots

While driving through Bethem you will notice some really beautiful murals on large flower pots throughout the town.

Artists sent messages to Southside Urban Arts Trail with their design and were assigned a flower pot to beautify.

Mural at the Flying V Poutinerie by Kyle Confehr

The Flying V is an authentic Canadian restaurant which started as a food truck owned by matt and Christie Vymazal.

Poutine originated in Quebec in the 1950s as a starchy meal to soak up alcohol after a night of drinking. Poutine consists of french fries with gravy and cheese curds.

Christie, who is from Canada, introduced Matt to poutine after a trip to Canada.

In 2016 Matt and Christie started setting up pop up tents at festivals and then started selling out of a food truck. In March of 2020 they opened their restaurant in Bethlehem which quickly closed due to COVID-19. They reopened in August of 2020.

Flying V commissioned Kyle Confehr for the artwork on the outside and inside of the restaurant. Bits of poutine and local elements can be found in the artwork.

We first saw Kyle’s artwork when we visited the Keith Haring exhibit at Michener Art Museum. We sat for a very long time picking out the designs in Kyle’s artwork.

We have yet to eat at the Flying V but definitely plan on a return trip.
