Moods Covered Bridge - Perkasie, PA

Updated: Sep 7, 2022

Moods Covered Bridge was built in 1874, 120 feet long, crosses the Perkiomen Creek and is located outside of Perkasie in Bucks County, PA. The original bridge was called Mood's Ford bridge since it was near Samuel Mood's farm. The bridge was destroyed by arson when six men set fire to the closed bridge in the middle of the night on June 22, 2004. The men pled guilty and agreed to pay restitution for about half the costs of the new bridge.

A new replica was built using the period type framework and reopened in 2008. A piece of the original wooden truss from the burnt bridge was built into the new structure. The bridge was removed from the National Historic Places after it burned.
