Mensch Mill - Barto, PA
The grist mill was built in 1822 by & Catherine Mensch. The 1734-68 Maybury-Hereford Furnace is directly across the road that runs behind the mill. One of the first cookstoves in America was made here in 1767. The Eastern Synod of the Reformed Church acquired the property in 1928. They added structures and used it as a religious camp and conference center. It was later purchased by a Buddhist organization.
