Mackinac Island - Michigan
Founded in 1870 Mackinac Island sits on Lake Huron between Michigan’s lower and upper peninsula.
Since 1896 the island has not allowed motorized vehicles because the horses are disturbed by the noisy engines.
We took a ferry ride to the island and then rented bikes. We rode the 8.2 miles on the M-185 which circles the edge of the island, stopping to visit Arch Rock, Devils Kitchen and enjoying the beautiful views.
We definitely did not have enough time on the island and plan to return in the near future.
