John Eisenhower Metal Bridge - Suicide Bridge - Gettysburg, PA

John Eisenhower metal bridge was constructed in Gettysburg in 1886. We found this bridge a short distance from the Eisenhower National Historic Site.

There are many urban legends surrounding the haunting of this bridge which is also called “Suicide Bridge”. One legend is that a man was delivered divorce papers and jumped from the bridge. His car was found with the divorce papers on the seat of the car. Another legend is of a woman who lost her husband in WWII and jumped from the bridge. Many Gettysburg ghost tours stop by this bridge. Maybe the ghost of the Civil War soldiers haunt this bridge.
