Editorial Office of Highlights for Children - Honesdale, PA

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

The Editorial Offices of the Highlights for Children magazine are located in Honesdale, Pa. It began publication in June 1946, started by Garry Cleveland Myers and his wife Caroline Clark Myers above a car dealership in a two-room office with a tiny band of co-workers. The Myers’ created the first issue of the magazine they had long imagined. The first issue, printed in June 1946, printed 20,000 copies. Sixty years later, in June 2006, the one-billionth copy of the magazine rolled off the presses just in time for the company's 60th anniversary.

The magazine accepted no advertising and eschewed single-issue sales, but could be found in most doctors' and dentists' offices located in the US. Today, Highlights magazine still offers 6-12 year-olds entertaining content while helping them develop reading, critical thinking, and social skills.
