Double Parking Meter Tombstone - Harlan, IN

Apparently Archillous Adair “Archie” Arnold had a great sense of humor. Located on either side of his tombstone are two parking meters with the word “expired”.

Archie had backed up and hit two parking meters. He asked the Sheriff if he could keep the meters. In his will he stipulated that he wanted the parking meters on each side of his tombstone.

Archie died on April 21, 1982 from injuries he suffered when his car hit a truck.
