Color Park, Pittsburgh, PA

This Color Park opened in 2017 as a place where creative expression through graffiti is not only legal but welcomed.

Local artist Baron Batch had been painting the trail and other locations in Pittsburgh for several years. He was eventually reported to the police for vandalism. This brought on a discussion about vandalism over public art, thus the creation of the Color Park.

Batch’s vision was to turn the dingy industrial area into a welcoming and colorful area through art. While we walked along the path enjoying the art, we were struck at how many people used this path for biking and walking and we also enjoyed watching a family sit at a picnic table and all of them were drawing.

We spent some time walking the path, enjoy the artwork and the gorgeous views.
