Chief Tomokie - Ormond Beach, Florida
The 45-foot high sculpture of Timucua Chief Tomokie was built in 1955 by artist Fred Dana Marsh. The sculpture is located inside the Tomoka State Park. There is a $5.00 entrance fee into the park.
The legend goes that Chief Tomokie filled his cup from sacred spring waters and drank from it, enraging other Indians who believed the waters gave immortality. Enemies arrows could not touch Chief Tomokie making him invincible until Princess Oleeta killed him with an arrow.
