Cathedral of Learning - Pittsburgh, PA
Updated: Nov 2, 2021
The Cathedral of Learning is a 42 story skyscraper that is located on the University of Pittsburgh campus in the Oakland neighborhood. The ground was broken in 1926 and the first class was held in the building in 1931. Its exterior was finished in October 1934.
The Cathedral contains more than 2,000 rooms and windows. It functions primarily as the classroom and administrative center of the university, and is home to the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Social Work, and many of its departments, as well as the University Honors College. It houses a studio theater, food court, study lounges, offices, computer and language labs.
We did try to gain entry into the building but since we were not students or faculty members we were denied entry and had to enjoy the building from the outside.
