Benson Ford Shiphouse - Put-In-Bay, Ohio
This cargo ship, now turned home, was created for the Ford Motor Company in 1924. The ship was named after Henry Ford’s grandson, Benson. After the ship served over 50 years of hauling iron ore, logs and coal around the Great Lakes it was decommissioned in December of 1981.
The ship was then purchased by Frank J. Sullivan who let it sit for two years. Frank turned the 7000 square foot ship into a summer home. The ship is perched on top of a 30 foot bluff on South Bass Island (Put-In-Bay.)
It was then purchased by Jerry & Bryan Kasper, the current owners. It features 5 bedrooms, 5 baths, living room, kitchen, dining room, garage and more.
The shiphouse has been featured on MTV Extreme Cribs, Home and Garden TV’s Extreme Homes, The Travel Channel and many more.
