Armstrong Air & Space Museum - Wapakoneta, Ohio

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio is the hometown of Neil Armstrong, first man to step foot on the moon. This museum chronicles Mr. Armstrong’s life and achievements. On July 20, 1972, three years to the day after Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon, the Armstrong Air & Space Museum opened.

The museum stands as a repository of Ohio’s aeronautical history and a monument to Ohio’s contribution to aviation and space exploration from the early pioneer days through the space shuttle era. You will have a chance to observe a moon rock, two aircrafts flown by Neil Armstrong, the Gemini VIII space capsule, artifacts from the Apollo 11 mission and more.

There is a museum gift shop with a large selection to choose from, including mission patches and a huge favorite – space ice cream!
